Location: Capital One Cafe, 1328 Broadway, New York, NY
Capital One has launched a second cafe in New York City, merging traditional banking services with a welcoming cafe environment designed to foster community interaction. Collaborating with Schimenti Construction, Bestmark National undertook significant interior design work to maximize the cafe’s potential as both a bank and a community hub.
The cafe features expansive areas where guests can work or relax, introducing a fresh approach to hospitality within a business setting. For those in a rush, the “Grab and Go” station offers open shelving with base cabinets, ensuring easy access to essential cafe items. The station is finished with a consistent white oak veneer, matching the cabinetry and shelving throughout.
The standout feature, the blue-block coffee bar, boasts custom lacquered wood in a striking matte blue. Despite its bold design, the bar harmonizes with the cafe’s overall subdued atmosphere. Practical elements such as base cabinets, a glass sneeze-guard, and a pastry display case uphold the bar’s functionality. Uniform-colored leather straps secure the pendant lights above the bar, adding a cohesive touch.
Tambour cladding provides a clean and appealing aesthetic across the hub table, condiment station, and planter areas. Banquettes strategically placed throughout the cafe feature high-density foam cushions, showcasing Bestmark National’s premium upholstery craftsmanship. Above the library seating, curved soffit wall panels seamlessly blend the walls with the ceiling.
Bestmark National worked closely with Capital One and Schimenti Construction to ensure the timely completion of the cafe, creating a warm and inviting environment in the heart of bustling Herald Square.
